RA-1022: LITURGICAL DANCE
We pour the water of baptism; we break the bread;
we bow and lift our arms in prayer. Through these
minimal movements, we are already engaging in
liturgical dance. Whether practiced by a soloist,
dance choir or the entire assembly of worshippers,
there is an art to making sacred dance an integral
part of a religious service. An introduction to
dance and liturgy, the course includes theory and
practice, the use of gesture and movement in
prayer, processions, celebratory dances and
proclamation of the word. Students are evaluated
by presentations and short reflection papers.
Those electing to take 3 units prepare a more
comprehensive project.
